The Careers in Health and Medicine Program, better known as CHAMPs, is a pipeline program aiming to get students of color, first generation students, and other promising students the opportunity to gain experience in the medical field. We at Waco AHEC, Ascension Providence, and Prosper Waco see the overwhelming need for a representative and diverse healthcare workforce so that we all receive equitable care. CHAMPs will be accepting 25 High School students to participate this summer and is focusing on rising junior and senior students within Waco ISD who have an interest in learning more about the medical field and becoming college-ready. Promising rising sophomores will also be given consideration. CHAMPS runs from July 19-23, 2021 and is a day camp with lunch provided.
